Reports of one lane blocked and very slow traffic due to broken down car on M62 Westbound between J23 A640 / A643 (Huddersfield) and J22 A672 (Rishworth Moor).
Lane three (of three) is blocked. Affecting traffic from Leeds towards Manchester.

The most read story on our website at the moment highlights the empty shops problem in Kirklees.


Some areas have one of the worst records in Britain - almost a fifth of all shops in Batley have been empty for at least three years.


This is the the sixth highest figure in the country.

Star swimmer Jonny Booth is Rio-bound.


The Huddersfield sportsman has been confirmed in the Paralympics GB squad for the Games in the Brazilian city in the summer.

The Borough of Kirklees swimmer received the news on Wednesday lunchtime.


He will be competing with thousands of athletes in 528 events over 11 days of competition, starting on September 7.

Light's out!

Kirklees Conservative Leader Robert Light has announced he is standing down from the role.

It means the Conservative Group will elect a new Leadership Team on Monday, May 21, ahead of the council’s annual meeting next week.

Clr Light is one of only nine politicians who have been Leader of the Council since it came into being in 1974, and one of only two Conservatives to lead the Council.
