Local News:

Some of you may remember his TV series ‘The Beer Hunter’ airing in the early 90’s but if you live in the UK and aren’t a committed beer geek you’d be forgiven for never having heard the name Michael Jackson in relation to beer.

However if you were to travel to the US on a beer pilgrimage you could expect his name to crop up frequently as the inspiring influence to many established US craft breweries. The impact of his work can’t be underestimated in relation to the current explosion in beer interest.

Magic Rock Brewery in Birkby are delighted to be screening this excellent documentary to kick off its 1st year birthday celebrations at its Tap Room especially as there’s a local connection to Michael’s story.

Unknown to many local beer fans Michael grew up in Leeds and was schooled at King James’s in Almondbury, before beginning his beer writing career penning articles in the Huddersfield Daily Examiner.

The film will be screened at Magic Rock Tap on Wednesday, 22 June at 7pm (the bar will we be open from 5pm - 10pm).

Event is ticketed and numbers limited to 100. Run length is 2 hours (including a 15 minute break).

If you’re interested in beer and want to learn more about one of the most important figures in the history of craft beer, we’d strongly recommend joining us for what should be a fun night
