M62 madness

Good afternoon. We’ve got more congestion on the M62 this afternoon, I’m afraid. Accidents on both sides. Eastbound is blocked with stationary traffic due to multi-vehicle accident between J26 and J27, with congestion back to Hartshead Moor Services.

Westbound is also gridlocked with one lane closed and slow traffic due to an accident on between J27 and J26, with congestion to J28.

It is thought overflowing bottle banks had forced people to dump their bottles and run.

Calderdale Royal Hospital will be extended as part of a shake-up of hospital services in Huddersfield and Halifax.

Hospital chiefs have said the extensions – to accommodate as many as 300 more beds and new ambulance bays – would be built on the existing site.

This has prompted concerns from campaigners as to how the already cramped site –notorious for its shortage of parking spaces – will operate with greater flows of patients and vehicles. There is more here.
