A teenager has been stabbed and another threatened with a knife in a series of incidents.

Police were called to the first incident on Gillroyd Lane, Linthwaite at 3.10pm.

A teen was threatened with a knife and then assaulted.

Just 30 minutes later officers were called after a teenager was stabbed in Hazel Grove, Linthwaite.

Dozens of police, ambulances, and the air ambulance were at the scene.

If you’re just joining us there has been two violent incidents in the Colne Valley this afternoon involving young people.

One boy has been attacked and half an hour later another was stabbed.

Police have not yet confirmed if they are linked.

MP concerned over 'serious incident'

MP Thelma Walker said the victim suffered serious injuries.

She said: “I am deeply troubled to hear of the incidents involving weapons in Linthwaite and Cowlersley this afternoon. It appears that several young people were involved and serious injuries sustained. My thoughts are with those involved and their families.

“My office has been in contact with West Yorkshire Police and I am awaiting further information. An update will be shared as soon as we have any new information.”

Another witness says the attack happened as pupils would be leaving school

Mike Shaw, who lives near the scene called the Examiner to say he had heard police cars and a helicopter about 3pm - around the time pupils would have been leaving Colne Valley High School.
He added: “It’s not the sort of thing you would expect to happen in a nice residential area like this.
“I am very surprised (someone has been stabbed) because we don’t usually have any trouble here apart from the odd minor burglary.”

Attacker was in school uniform

Eye-witness said the attacker was in school uniform when he jumped from the car and stabbed the victim

It is thought he could have been stabbed up to three times and was seen holding his stomach

Police statement in full

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police were called to reports of a teenager being assaulted on Gillroyd Lane, Linthwaite at 3.10pm.

“It is alleged that the victim was threatened with a knife.

“Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing. It is not yet known if the victim was injured during the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 1010.

“Officers were called at 340pm to Hazel Grove, Linthwaite to reports of a teenager having been stabbed.

“This incident is being investigated and any witnesses are asked to call police on 101 quoting log 1077 of today.

DI Anna Buchanan of Kirklees CID, said:

“These two incidents obviously happened close to one another and we are investigating whether they are linked. I would appeal to anyone who witnessed either incident to call police.”


Police confirm one teen stabbed and another threatened with knife

West Yorkshire Police has confirmed there were two incidents. One teenager has been stabbed on Hazel Grove, Linthwaite at 3:40pm. This came thirty minutes after a teenager was attacked and assaulted on Gillroyd Avenue.

Residents concerned

Mum Alisha Todd, who lives in Kinder Avenue, said residents believed someone had been stabbed and the police and paramedics were on the scene.

The air ambulance had landed nearby.”I don’t know what has happened but I’m told it’s a stabbing. All the residents are out in the street very concerned about their children,” she said.
Alisha said there had been another stabbing in South Avenue, a neighbouring street, on Saturday when a boy was stabbed in what was believed to be a “row over a tenner.”
