A small controlled explosion was actually carried out
A spokesman has clarified that a small controlled explosion was actually carried out, which ‘revealed the innocent wiring’.
The device was deemed non-suspicious.
Terminal is fully open now.
According to the airport the departing flights had all left T2 before the situation developed. One inbound flight was delayed offloading passengers but they came into the terminal building about 20 mins ago. The terminal is fully open now.
No controlled explosion required
Police have just told us no controlled explosion was required. The bomb squad assessment was that the device just had some extra wiring within it, which made it look suspicious but was innocent.
