WHAT a shining example Lucy Buckley is to other young teenagers.

The 13-year-old was upset after hearing about the terrible plight of orphaned children and child soldiers in Uganda.

Many would leave it at that, but not Lucy.

She was absolutely determined to do something about it and so set up a variety night at the John Smith’s Stadium. She will bring dancers, bands and young performers together to stage something spectacular and, hopefully, raise £1,500.

Anyone who has ever arranged an event like this knows it’s a mammoth job both in terms of organising and sorting out the red tape.

It’s a tough enough task for an adult to tackle.

Lucy certainly is a very special teenager.
