GENEROUS Brighouse shoppers donated more than £2,575 to a club’s charitable work.

Brighouse Rotary Club collected donations at supermarkets in the town before Christmas on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Ian Hamer, of the Rotarians, said: “The Christmas bucket collections at Brighouse supermarkets were astounding.

“People were coming back to contribute, when they realised it was for Alzheimer's. They were brilliant!”

A total of £2,575 was donated, with money still coming in from Rotary Tree of Light sponsors.

Brighouse Rotary Club meets at 6pm on Monday evenings at the Auctioneer Restaurant, British Car Auctions Building, Armytage Road, Brighouse. All are welcome to join them.
