A GIANT meat pie was cooked to mark the launch of a new book about the celebrated Denby Dale pies.
The three feet wide meat and potato pie was baked to celebrate local historian, Chris Heath’s, latest book, The Denby Dale Pies – Ten Giants.
The book includes the full details of all the monster pies cooked and eaten at Denby Dale since the 18th century.
The latest book by Chris, who has published a number of books about the village’s history, includes hundreds of photographs, many of which have never been published before.
The book also features a collection of illustrations and memorabilia, painstakingly gathered together for the first time.
