A BABY boy was in hospital last night having undergone major surgery for head injuries.

Little Sahil Saleem was one of SEVEN people hurt in a crash involving a police car in Huddersfield.

And as two investigations into the incident got under way, members of his family were at his bedside. Nine-month-old Sahil had emergency surgery at the weekend for injuries he sustained in Friday night’s crash.

His mother Hajra is also detained in the same hospital.

Sahil’s twin brother Hashim, older brother Harris and dad Irfan were also hurt in the incident, as were two police officers.

The 999 crew were on their way to an emergency call when their Volvo car was in collision with the family’s BMW at the junction of Birkby Hall Road and Grimscar Avenue.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating.
