A beer festival with a range of ales gets underway in Shelley later this week.

Huddersfield Round Table is hosting the festival which last year pulled in £2,500 for charity.

There will be 21 different beers on tap, plus entertainment throughout the weekend.

Jeremy Child, from the Round Table, said: “Last year we raised £2,500 and we’re hoping to top that this year.

“We’ve 21 beers available for people to sample.”

The Huddersfield 68 Round Table is hosting the festival as part of its fundraising work.

They support a range of local community groups as well as the work of Wharfeside House, an organisation that takes underprivileged children on a weekend away.

This year’s beer festival gets underway at Shelley Village Hall, Huddersfield Road, on Friday from 5.30pm and again on Saturday from midday. There is live music both nights.

The festival has been sponsored which means proceeds can be put into the Round Table’s charitable work.

Admission is £5 which includes a free glass and first pint.
