Open auditions will be taking place for Brighouse’s next Gala Queen.

Organisers of Brighouse Charity Gala will select a Gala Queen and her attendant for the event on Saturday June 28.

The auditions are on Monday April 28 at Pregos restaurant in Brighouse.

Nicky Fox, one of the organisers, said: “Girls must be aged between 16 and 21 on Gala Day and will be judged on personality and enthusiasm.

“They must also live, work or go to school in the Brighouse area.”

Anyone interested will be asked to meet the judging panel which will include members of Brighouse Ladies Circle and the Gala Committee, as well as the current Gala Queen Georgina Thornton.

The girl chosen to take on the role will receive £150 for an outfit for gala day and her attendant will receive £100 for an outfit.

The Queen and her Attendant will be driven to the field in style as part of the procession.

She will be officially crowned at the opening ceremony in the field at Wellholme Park on Bradford Road.

Arrangements have been made for the girls to have their hair styled and make-up done by Park Row Hair & Beauty and flowers will be provided on the day from both Simply Flowers and Eliza’s Flower Basket.

Brighouse Ladies Circle, who organise the auditions, are looking forward to girls coming along and audition in the hope of becoming an ambassador of Brighouse both on Gala day and in their local community throughout their year as Gala Queen.
