A SLAP on his son’s face landed a Huddersfield man in court.
The father-of-two hit his son, eight, and found himself charged with assault.
But a judge at Bradford Crown Court handed him a lenient sentence after claiming it was “simply” a case of a father getting angry with his son and slapping him.
The 46-year-old Birkby man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was found guilty of common assault.
He was given a 12-month community service order by the judge, Recorder Bernard Gateshill.
The court was told the man had been estranged from his two young children following the incident.
And his lawyer said that he was “deeply remorseful”.
