MEMBERS and friends of Pole Moor Riding Club are all 'giddied-up' for the big event of the year.

The Annual Show on Sunday September 13 is at the new venue, Hey Lane, Pole Moor – sponsored by The Jack O’Mitre pub.

There are classes for all abilities and ages and organisers promise a great time for all with refreshments all day.

Meanwhile the club is looking back on a highly successful summer season featuring fun and variety.

Members’ canines were feeling rather put out as their owners were spending so much time with their equine pals, so the Pole Moor club organised a Fun Dog Show to keep tails wagging.

Doggy classes included fancy dress, cutest pup, waggiest tail, cleverest dog, look-a-like, prettiest pooch, obstacle course and an exciting high jump competition.

For the club’s keen riding competitors, points shows of both show jumping and equitation have been running, where members accumulated points for trophies rewarded at the season end.

The excitement is mounting as there is one more points show of each remaining.

Then to keep dads and other family members happy, the club organised a Car Rally Treasure Hunt, which was great fun following clues and answering questions.

The hunt began in Slaithwaite and followed clues to Holmbridge.

The winners were 1 ‘Team Turner’ from Scapegoat Hill, 2: ‘The Three Tedders’, 3 ‘Dion and his Dames’, 4: ‘Heather's Heroines’ and 5: ‘Team Fantastic’.

Then there was a one for the ladies... A ‘Fancy Bra’ event took place which caused a lot of stares and smiles..!

There was also a sponsored ‘Fancy Bra Ride’ to raise money for Breast Cancer.

Many brave members took part, riding a 13 mile planned route and collecting ‘letters’ from various stable yards wearing a fancy bra.

The ‘Best Decorated Bra’ prize was won by Rachel Fielder riding Barney and more than £300 was raised for the charity.

There were no ‘booby prizes’ but the procession created laughter and raised many eyebrows en route as well as charity funds.
