FAMILY fun was offered at Brackenhall to mark the official opening of the new community centre.

The new facility, Northfield Hall was unveiled on Saturday to a party atmosphere.

The hall, which will now be the focal point for the community, has been in the pipeline for 10 years before plans were unveiled last year for the new purpose built building.

Entertainment from two steel bands kept the crowds entertained as youngsters enjoyed face painting and a bouncy castle.

The new Northfield Hall is located in the heart of the Brackenhall and Ferndale estates in Sheepridge and has a wide range of facilities to cater for the whole community, as well as doubling up as a good quality venue for special occasions and business use.

The building features a large hall which can be split into two parts, two meeting rooms, a cafe in the hall, Jolly Roger’s Play Gym, an activity room and a church.

Outdoors there are two football pitches – one full size, one junior – and a multi use games area (Muga).

There is also shower and changing facilities in the building and a free car park for visitors.
