BRIGHOUSE bus station is to finally get a public toilet.

After a campaign by ward member Clr Colin Stout, Calderdale Cabinet confirmed it had agreed funding for such a provision.

Clr Stout called on the Cabinet to lobby Metro for more public toilet provision at its train and bus stations.

He said: “We fund Metro, we need to tell them what we want.

“You can go from one side of Calderdale to the other on the train and there’s no toilets at stations or on the trains.

“What do we expect people to do? We’ve got to consider people with medical conditions.”

Clr Barry Collins, Cabinet member for the economy and environment, told him: “At the last meeting of the Capital Working Group we put aside an amount of money to provide public toilet facilities at Brighouse bus station, particularly for those with medical conditions.”

The council has also agreed funding to re-open public toilets in parks.
