DANCERS were jive talkin’ for 11 hours non-stop in aid of charity.

A dance group took over the Ritz in Brighouse for an 11-hour danceathon in aid of Help for Heroes.

Fittingly, the dance took place on November 11, Remembrance Day.

And now they’ve collected all the sponsorship and have handed over more than £1,800 to Help for Heroes.

Sheila Kearns helped organise the event with Steven Dilger, Sherina Campbell, Margaret Moor and Adrian Clegg.

Sheila said: “We jived for 11 hours on the 11th of the 11th – there were about 140 of us and we kept it going non-stop.

“There were people in their 20s and the oldest was in her 70s, it was a great turn out.

“One of our members has served in the Forces, another has a son in the Yorkshire Regiment, and it’s a cause we like to support.”

The dancers thanked the Ritz team for allowing them to use the ballroom for the fundraiser.

Jive dancing takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7.30pm until 10pm. There are also two freestyle sessions every month and new classes begin in the new year. People don’t need a partner to learn and to join go along to the Ritz, Bradford Road, Brighouse, and find out more.
