ELLAND: Police are offering to carry out crime reduction surveys of people’s homes. Police officers will visit a property, highlight potential security issues, garden fencing and boundaries and give homeowners advice on how to avoid being targeted by burglars. Sgt Warren Pitman said: “People can stop any officer on the street to get a survey or phone us. It’s totally free of charge and we’re doing it to prevent people being the victim of crime.” Anyone interested in taking up the police offer can call Elland police on the non emergency number 101 to book a survey.

The local police priority has changed to speeding enforcement and awareness on Victoria Road, Elland, after residents at the latest PACT meeting highlighted concerns about excessive speeds along the road. Police patrols will be carried out over the coming weeks.
