A CANCER patient has said “thanks” to the staff who treated him at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

Mr Allen Turner, of Honley, and his family, raised £2,000 to buy two special chairs for Ward 10 at the hospital.

The chairs recline and swivel to aid patients’ mobility after surgery.

Mr Turner was treated for bowel cancer in 2010.

He raised the money with donations in lieu of presents for his 60th birthday and through an Open House organised by his wife Sheila.

SITTING COMFORTABLY: Allen Turner sits in one of the special chairs he bought as a thank-you gift for the care he received at the HRI. Seen with him are staff from Ward 10 at the hospital.
