IT is certainly great news that the new children’s hospice in Huddersfield now seems likely to be fully built earlier than expected.

An extra £250,000 cash boost means plans to just build a day centre at first have been put on hold until September when work on the entire building may start in Brackenhall.

Under the original plans the bedrooms were not due to be constructed until next summer.

Thousands of people across Kirklees and Calderdale have raised money for the hospice over many years and are anxious to see all that fundraising come to fruition.

But the need for money will never cease. Even when it is built it will need a massive amount each year to provide the children with the extra-special care they need.

Huddersfield won’t let them down and will keep up the good work.
