Students at a Mirfield school are treading the boards this week.

Castle Hall Academy is staging Annie, its third annual musical.

The show opens Tues Feb 11 and runs Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Curtain up is 7pm.

In all there are about 100 students involved.

Apart from the actors, students will also help out backstage while others will be dancers and musicians.

The last two years have seen productions of Grease and Bugsy Malone but Annie was chosen as this year’s cast had more girls than boys.

The school’s 1960s stage is currently being revamped with new curtains, sound and lighting systems.

Money raised by this year’s production will be reinvested in the stage and next year’s production.

Auditions were held and Rebekah Flood (Annie), George Farmer (Oliver ‘Daddy’ Warbucks) and Phoebe Hall (Miss Hannigan) were selected for the leading roles.

Tickets for the shows cost £5 for adults and £4 concessions.
