MEMBERS of a Holmfirth ladies’ choir headed down to the shops recently.

But the choristers from Vocal Expressions were not indulging in a spot of retail therapy – they were helping to pack customers’ bags.

Their efforts at the Marks & Spencer Simply Food store in Waterloo raised £487 for the Yorkshire Lupus charity.

The event was organised by choir member, Viv Howard.

Lupus is an incurable disease which affects some 50,000 people in the UK.

Symptoms vary from rashes, tiredness, depression and anaemia to feverishness, joint and muscle pain and headaches, making diagnosis difficult.
