Gaining the right qualifications for the job should not have to mean going to university for further academic studies.
That was the message at an event organised by Entice at Colne Valley High School, where pupils were invited to meet employers and discover the raft of apprenticeships on offer.
Dozens of businesses packed into the hall to meet with pupils. Taster sessions and work experience stints were on offer and insights into the daily lives of apprentices in different areas from engineering to biotechnology.
Colne Valley MP Jason McCartney said: “Since 2010 there have been 4,120 apprenticeship starts in the Colne Valley. And I’m keen to continue to improve on these statistics through my own jobs fairs and by supporting projects.”
