BROCKHOLES

Holy Communion at St George’s Church was led by the Rev Jenny Barnes. She spoke about Faith. Rosalind Watt read the lesson and Roger Kenworthy was the server. Verena Wood was the organist.

The Rev Tim Moore led worship at the Methodist Church. Kath Gaukroger played the piano. John Gaukroger welcomed the congregation. Refreshments were served by Barbara Kaye.

HOLMBRIDGE

Midweek communion at St David’s Church was led by the Rev Geoff Bamford. Ian Gold read the lessons . The Over 60s Club and the free lunch were held. Friday evening prayers were led by the Rev Geoff Bamford.

The Worship Together service was led by the Rev Nick Heaton. Lessons were read by Carole Heaton and intercessions were led by Carolyn Burley.

NETHERTON

On May 21 a burglar sneaked into a house hallway through an unlocked UPVC door and stole purse and pension book. On May 23 metal bin lids were stolen from a rear garden.

NEW MILL

On Monday May 27 a lawnmower was stolen from the back garden of a New Mill house.

UPPERTHONG

The Tuesday morning prayer breakfast was held at the home of the Hopkins family. Holy Communion on Thursday was led by the Rev Geoff Banks. A Faith Lunch was held afterwards.

Early communion at St John’s Church was led by the Rev Di Ellerton who also conducted the family service which included the baptism of Lois Hickling. Music was provided by the Drummond family and refreshments afterwards were served by Liz Stead.

WILSHAW

The Rev Peter Rolls baptised Brooklyn Thomas Coates at St Mary’s Church on Sunday, May 19. Liz Pearson was the organist and read the lesson.

The following week The Rev Jenny shields led a service of Holy Communion assisted at the altar by Kim Howe. Liz Pearson read the lessons and the Rev Dennis used an egg with its shell, white and yoke to illustrate his talk about the holy trinity.

Last Sunday, June 2 the Rev Peter Rolls was celebrant at a service of Holy Communion. Jackie France assisted with the chalice and Louise Brook read the lessons. Next weekend the congregation are looking forward to welcoming visitors to St Mary’s Flower Festival on Friday, June 7-9.

WOOLDALE

Morning worship at the Methodist Church was led by Rev Richard Thompson and sacrament was served, readings were given by Derek Greenwood and Trevor Jones organist was Nigel Morris, refreshments were served.
