BIRDSEDGE

CHURCH: Linda Jacob took last week’s church service. She asked if we had Jesus in our hearts this Christmas. We should try to keep him there all year round and share with others. She used the first of her Christmas presents, David Essex’s autobiography, to say that celebrity was OK but fleeting, second third and fourth compounded the idea of ‘sharing’ Jesus using a tin of chocolates, a Kindle (which needed the share button during the set up) and an ornament of the nativity which needed a lit candle to show off the light of the world. The Covenant Service on January 6 was taken by Malcolm Jacob.

VILLAGE HALL: The lunches delivered last week were much appreciated by the people who had ordered one. The meal on Thursday this week, back in the Village Hall, will be jacket potato with beef casserole followed by apple sponge. There was no singing round the tree due to the bad weather so it took place inside the Hall. The music was provided by CD as no brass players were available, for the first time. The raffle held to raise tree funds was drawn and all winners have been contacted.
