SENIOR council highways officials are to explain their plans for tackling snow and ice on Huddersfield’s roads.

They will be at a meeting of the Valleys Area Committee on November 3 when winter roads maintenance will be the main topic.

Senior officers from Kirklees Highways will be on hand to explain how the council plans to keep roads in the Colne and Holme Valleys open this winter.

There will also be a chance for members of the public to ask about other highways matters.

Clr Donna Bellamy, who chairs the committee, said: “Winter maintenance of our roads is a particular concern in the valleys as so much of the area is on high ground and is hit hardest by bad weather.

“I hope that as many residents as possible will take this opportunity to find out what it takes to keep our highways network open during the winter months.”

The meeting will take place at Brockholes Village Hall, Brockholes Lane, in Brockholes, from 7pm to 9pm.
