Neighbourhood Police Update: Two arrests have been made last week by the Valleys NPT in connection with the recent spate of thefts from persons in Honley and Holmfirth.

The main areas for purse dippings have been in Honley and Holmfirth involving an eastern European male and female. They have been preying on the elderly and removing purses whilst out and about shopping. Although two persons have been arrested in connection with the theft we would urge the public to take extra care when out in busy shopping areas, making sure they zip up their handbags and never leave them unattended on the back of a shopping trolley.

Parking on Pavements: Over recent months there has been an increase in vehicles parking on pavements. This not only causes an unnecessary obstruction but also forces pedestrians with pushchairs or wheelchairs into the road to pass. Targeted patrols of the problem areas have now been carried out and will continue to be monitored over the coming weeks. Positive action has and will be taken against any vehicle that is parked on a pavement causing an obstruction and forcing pedestrians into the road to get past. Please be more courteous to those who use pavements. Pavements are for people, not for cars to park upon.
