Neighbourhood Policing Team UpdateOfficers from the Valleys Neighbourhood Policing Team have completed the second phase of their school parking initiative at one of the schools in the Holme Valley area. The idea behind the initiative is to bring to light the problems schools in general are facing with parents who ignore statutory parking regulations which ultimately endanger our young people. Officers first attended at Meltham Moor Junior School on November 16 and offered advice and warnings to members of the public in regards to any driving concerns or offences that were seen. During the first phase of the initiative parents were made aware that police would be re-attending at a later date and warnings would not be offered as all offences would be dealt with in an official manner. On December 8 officers conducted the second phase which was a great success. A marked increase in driver safety was seen. No one was seen on the phone and also parking restrictions where adhered to in full. A motorist was dealt with by means of Fixed Penalty Ticket for failure to wear a seatbelt. The Valleys Neighbourhood Policing Team will be targeting driving offences especially over the festive season when more and more people will be out in cars and on foot in the villages of the Colne and Holme Valley.
