BURGLARY: Taylor Valves Ltd, Dowker Street, Milnsbridge, August 31. Intruders opened gates leading to compound and once inside opened large wooden door and drove red Ford Transit into factory premises. Inside, scrap metal and a large generator were loaded onto the back. Police were called with suspect still on premises. All suspects were arrested. Hadfield Bakers Ltd, Factory Lane, Milnsbridge, August 29. Metal security grid bent then window smashed to get into bakery through internal locked door activating alarm. Property stolen. Linthwaite, August 29. Intruder got in through unlocked window and stole a free standing safe which was later recovered nearby in small stream, unopened and intact. Cowlersley, August 30. Suspect approached detached garage and removed screws from hinges of double doors, gaining entry and stealing property.
THEFT: Holme Lane Haulage Ltd, Spa Fields Industrial Estate, Slaithwaite, August 29. Intruder got into yard by pulling down barbed wire fencing. He then took lorry keys which were used to move vehicles around the yard. The lorry cabs and trailers were searched but nothing stolen. Keys later recovered. Golcar August 28. Three suspects approached and stopped victim. One suspect took wallet from victim and stole £20 from it. Walkers Arms, Parkwood Road, Golcar, August 30. Pedal cycle left unattended outside public house stolen.
CRIME WARNING: Householders have been warned to lock up or risk losing out by police as part of a new drive to prevent sneak in burglaries. West Yorkshire Police are asking residents to make sure they lock up their doors and windows to help prevent break ins by opportunist thieves. A quarter of burglaries involve thieves sneaking in through an unlocked door or window, yet this is easily preventable if householders follow the simple advice of keeping their doors and windows locked.

VEHICLE CRIME: Slaithwaite, August 27. Thief got into unlocked vehicle and attacked ignition column. Though he was possibly disturbed. Milnsbridge, August 29. Nearside wing mirror broken off vehicle and left hanging. Lindsays Allsorts, Stanley Mills Business Park, Britannia Road, Milnsbridge, August 29. Intruder entered compound by hiding inside until company closed. Suspect then smashed driver’s door window and got into two vehicles but nothing stolen. Golcar, August 30. Two sets of aluminium ladders stolen from roof of parked vehicle. Longwood, August 31. Large stone thrown at the front windscreen causing damage.
