NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICE UPDATE: Burglar arrested – Earlier this month an elderly man was burgled by a man he had allowed into his house after befriending him in the Milnsbridge area. After the man had left, it was discovered property had been stolen. Following inquiries by Valleys Neighbourhood Policing Team the man was identified. Working in partnership with our colleagues in the offender management unit the man was arrested and subsequently charged with the offence. He is still remanded in custody awaiting court proceedings. The public are reminded to be mindful of any vulnerable neighbours in their area. Should you have suspicions about any such activities then please contact the police. BURGLARY: Cowlersley, March 9. Paving slabs stolen from back garden of house. Marsden, April 1. Two Yorkshire stone paving slabs stacked up on top of drive stolen. Marsden, April 4. Metal drinking trough taken from field. Marsden, April 6. Suspects in vehicle started stealing flagstones from rear garden, but were disturbed by the occupier and drove off empty handed. Suspect: white male, short hair shaved at sides, short stature, medium to thin build, late teens early 20s, in small white van. Golcar, April 1. Intruder smashed rear window, climbed inside and stole cash. Longwood, April 2. Rear ground floor upvc kitchen window forced open by snapping the retaining locks. Not yet known what was stolen. Milnsbridge, April 3. Front timber door forced open and cash stolen. Longwood, April 4. Window smashed and intruder then climbed through into house bathroom. Jewellery and electrical equipment stolen. Man arrested and charged. Cowlersley, April 4. Bikes stolen from garden. Milnsbridge, April 4. Sneak thief got into communal area of flats by following a resident. He then forced open door to communal storeroom and stole a strimmer. Longwood, April 4. Thief got into to detached outbuilding through unlocked back door and stole cans of lager. Longwood, April 7. Grandfather clock stolen from garage.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: Mount, April 2. Intruder climbed onto roof up wooden steps at side of house. Believed to have used power tool to force bricks near bedroom window to try and remove bars. Disturbed by occupant in bedroom and he did not get in.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE: Cowlersley, March 6. Both panes of glass of living room window smashed. Golcar, April 7. Word "neon" sprayed on garage in black spray paint.

VEHICLE CRIME: Marsden, April 5. Thief got into unlocked vehicle and stole tools. Longwood, April 4. Rear number plate stolen from vehicle. Milnsbridge, April 5. Vandal stamped on bonnet. Cowlersley, April 6. Door lock forced then window smashed and radio stolen.
