ARTISTS have been going round in circles in a bid to boost creativity.

With the help of the people of Dalton and Rawthorpe, artists Lesley Fallais and Jane Revitt have been running community activities to get people creatively involved in the design of the new Library, Information and Children’s Centre on Ridgeway, Dalton, which is due to open later this year.

The activities dubbed The Circle Project, have seen young and old finding, writing, photographing, drawing, making and collecting circles and circular items.

Kirklees Council cabinet member for leisure and neighbourhood services, Clr Liz Smaje, said: “The Circle Project is a great way for local people to get involved and contribute ideas which will be used within the design of their new Library, Information and Children’s Centre.

“This centre will provide access to a wide range of services right in the heart of the Dalton ward and residents will be able to see how their creative input has been used in the building.”

As well as providing Library and Children’s Centre services the new centre will be a place for people to access housing information and advice, benefits, and other council services all under one roof.

The Children’s Centre will provide information for parents, play and learning activities for young children, child health services and family support services, including training opportunities for parents.

People living in the area can get involved in the project by taking part in circle themed activities and events during the summer and into the autumn.
