A BRAVE cancer patient undergoing surgery allowed the operation to be televised – to help others.
Debbie Selam, of Dalton, was awake for most of the four-hour operation to try to remove parts of a tumour on her brain.
And she hopes the decision to film the surgery can inspire others.
The mother of two said: “It was not a decision I took lightly.
“I didn’t want it to be gory or sensational or for people to feel sorry for me.
“I did it to raise awareness of brain tumours which are the biggest killers of young people under 40 and children.”
Debbie has urged people to learn about brain tumours and help raise funds for vital research.
