Gillian Lindop, former head teacher of Dalton School, retired in July and the school now has a new head teacher, Ian Richardson.

Sadly, the popular Mrs Lindop suffered a brain haemorrhage in September and was critically ill for a while.

Thankfully, she has recovered well and attended one of the school’s concerts at which parents were told the news and gave readily to the charity Neurocare which has raised around £500.

Staff gave money too instead of sending cards.

Gillian thanked the staff at Sheffield Hallam and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for their fantastic care.

Meanwhile, Mr Richardson said: “Having been a successful head for 13 years in Kirklees, I am excited to become the new Head of Dalton Nursery Infant and Junior School.

“As a national leader of education I have already spent a little time at Dalton during the autumn term and met with the staff governors and children.

“We are united in our vision and values for the school moving forwards and aspire to be the best we can be in the service of our wonderful children within their thriving community.”
