Daredevil dogs and a brave bike stunt team have been added to the bill for this week’s Emley Show.

Essex Dogs Display Team and Savage Skills Stunt Bike Display Team are expected to thrill spectators at Factory Farm, Emley Moor, Factory Lane, on Saturday.

Thousands of visitors are expected at the popular agricultural show which began in 1893.

The show is sponsored by RRG Toyota and all this week, an army of volunteers have been preparing the showground in the shadow of the Emley Moor TV mast.

As well as agile dogs and flying motorbikes there will be a wealth of music, games, food and drink and traditional animal classes.

Highlights include Emley Band, mounted fancy dress, Rockwood Hounds, a birds of prey rescue team, family games and races as well as a vintage tractor parade.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy fairground rides, Punch and Judy shows, a bouncy castle and slides together with trade stands and craft stalls.

Show publicist Richard Hartley said: “Emley Show is a true agricultural show day out with thousands of exhibits across hundreds of classes and competitions including cattle, sheep, goats, poultry, eggs, heavy horses, vintage tractors and dry stone walling, show jumping, horse showing, shire horses and gymkhana, rabbits, hamsters, mice, cage birds and pigeons, handicrafts, horticulture, floral art, cookery, photography, art and wood carving; plus the children’s classes and the fun dog show.”
