CALL me an old fogey (all right, you’re an old fogey) but I had never heard of a Wii musical video game called Guitar Heroes until I watched a rather eye catching advertisement on television.

The Wii trade name, which I have always thought has an unfortunate pronunciation, is some sort of electronic wizardry that allows you to simulate playing sport such as tennis or golf through the virtual reality of your TV screen. Harry and Jamie Redknapp are always doing it in other adverts.

Then along comes this new one featuring great music and a very attractive young lady thrashing along on a pretend guitar whilst throwing herself about the living room wearing nothing but a white shirt and socks.

You must have noticed it?

The classic track is Bob Seger’s Old Time Rock and Roll, which is guaranteed to get my feet tapping, while the young lady is guaranteed to get my pulse tapping.

But who is she?

I checked out the advert and discovered she is super model Heidi Klum and that she is copying a similar routine performed by Tom Cruise in his white shirt and socks to the same song in the film Risky Business.

Presumably the point of the advert is to promote the Guitar Heroes game by suggesting you, too, can thrash around to your favourite music half dressed in your living room.

Just as long as you realise that you could quite easily look like Mr and Mrs Potato Head rather than Mr Cruise and Ms Klum.
