IT’S that time of year again! Oh, yes it is..
Dewsbury Collegians’ annual pantomime opens tonight and runs until Saturday.
This year the Collegians are putting on the family favourite Jack and the Beanstalk at Dewsbury Town Hall.
With a new script but lots of old jokes, the show’s producer Chris Etty promises fun for people of all ages.
"I wanted to get back to the traditional British pantomime and concentrate more on the comedy side of it," said Mr Etty.
"I think people come to laugh and be entertained so we’ve got a modern script with lots of one-liners.
"It’s full of fun, laughter, lively music and dance.
"There’s something for everybody and it’s well worth coming to see."
Mr Etty has been a member of the Collegians since 1978 but this is the first time he’s produced the panto.
"Having played almost every role in pantomime I thought it was about time I tried producing one," he said.
"Pantomime has its detractors but when it’s done right it’s an art form in itself.
"You don’t get anything else where you get that reaction from the audience."
The cast includes: Tracy Stocks (Edena), Kirsty Firth (Slimeball), Natalie Jackson (Jack), Hayley Thompson (Princess Demelza), Laurie Gilbert (King Bertram), Joseph Davies (Fixit), Stephen Windle (Dame Trot), Chris Etty (Simple Simon) and Janet Jackson and Ann Broadbent (Daisy the Cow).
The panto runs every night until Saturday (7.15pm) with a Saturday matinee performance at 2pm.
Tickets are £8.50 for the balcony and £8 (concessions £6) for the stalls, but tonight all stalls seats are just £5.
