A CHARITY is to open a new superstore in Dewsbury, its largest in the North of England.
Sue Ryder, which raises funds for health and social care, will open the charity shop with a difference in January.
The 5,000 sq ft store, on the Topps Tiles Retail Park in Railway Street, will be the biggest ever opened by Sue Ryder in the North.
Close to Sainsbury’s, the store will sell a wide variety of donated items and new goods including clothing, furniture, books, bric-a-brac and electrical items.
Sue Ryder is responding to calls on the high street for value shopping while raising vital funds for the charity.
All money raised goes directly to pay for care and emotional support for people with life-changing illnesses.
Area retail manager Glynn Taylor said: "The new shop will also provide a number of welcome employment and volunteering opportunities as we are looking to employ seven permanent members of staff and hoping to have about 30 volunteers joining our team.
"The flagship superstore responds to people looking for quality and value for money.
"It builds on a range of specialist shops we have developed over the last years, including ‘music and books’ and ‘retro and vintage’.
"Focusing on specialist product lines and affordable pricing gives people what they want and raises funds to support our health and social care services.
"The next few years will be the most challenging we have ever faced. An ageing, growing population combined with hard-hitting cuts by Government has increased reliance on charities to deliver care services people need."
Glynn added: "We are very excited about opening Sue Ryder’s largest shop in the North and we hope the community will support our work.
"Of course we want people to visit us in search of quality value for money but we also want donations of the best items people no longer use. We want everyone to bring us the best of what’s hiding in their wardrobe or cupboards!"
