Hudds St Joseph’s Sharks 36 Slaithwaite 16

ST JOSEPHS were keen to get back to winning ways this week and they certainly did it in style against their Slaithwaite opponents.

The first half proved to be a dominant display with the Saracens being pinned in their own 20m for large parts of it with some great tackling from top tackler Jordan Ghani and most improved Tom Swift.

The Sharks managed to score some good tries from the likes of Tom Beaumont, Sam Whitworth and top driver Jordan Cogan and with some difficult conversions being landed by Jakob Garside they were well ahead at half time.

The Saracens seemed to wake up in the second half and pulled a few tries back but some strong running from man of the match Tyler Davies and Sam Whitworth ensured the Sharks came out on top.

Next up for the Sharks are the Bradford based Victoria Rangers who will visit the Fartown ground tomorrow morning (Sunday).

The other match last weekend saw the U17s travel to Oulton to face a very strong Raiders side who currently top their division. The Sharks managed to score a couple of tries but ultimately ended up on the wrong side of a 36-8 scoreline.

The U17s are also at home tomorrow (Sunday) as they host Wetherby Bulldogs, and the U16s will visit local rivals Meltham in the Huddersfield Cup. The U13 Girls will also be in action this weekend with Castleford Panthers visiting today.
