IT IS one of the highlights of the arts year, the annual Huddersfield Film Makers Club Festival of Film.

Huddersfield has some hugely talented film-makers and next week, you will be able to pop into the Town Hall and see what they’ve been focusing their lenses on this year.

And it’s been quite a year. Alongside film of celebrations in Kirkheaton for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, audiences will be able to watch rare footage of celebrations in 1935, when the village came out to celebrate the silver jubilee of George V.

And here is just one of the reasons why this is a show not to be missed. The club’s film-makers turn in travelogues, documentaries, even comedies.

They do it with skill and produce not only some fine short films but record some memorable moments in our town’s history in the Magazine film which it makes every year as its eye on the town. It’s always a friendly and fascinating one and definitely one for the archives.
