Elland youngsters turned gaming into a social day out.
The 5th Halifax (Elland) Boys’ Brigade competed for the Boys’ Brigade National Console Games Finals in Derbyshire.
And they made it all the way to the finals after getting one of the top ten scores during the qualification stage.
The finals were split into two sessions where the boys had to set a high score on a variety of different console games including Mario Kart, Pro Evolution Soccer, Crazy Taxi, Temple Run, Skiing, Wii Bowling and Gran Turismo.
James Pickles of the 5th Halifax (Elland) Boys’ Brigade said: “The Elland boys were unlucky to miss out on the top four play off after a fifth placed finish but the boys did well individually.
“Nathan defended his title of National Mario Kart champion and also won the Pro Evolution Soccer title while Jacob was crowned national champion of Wii Bowling.
“The boys enjoyed their day out and celebrated their achievements with a McDonalds on the way home. An overall finish of fifth in the country is a great effort and we aim to finish in the top four next year.”
