Around £60,000 has been raised at this year’s Overgate Hospice Midnight Walk.

Over 860 walkers took to the streets in aid of the Elland-based hospice in a six or 13 mile walk.

The event saw friends, families and colleagues get together.

The youngest ‘walker’ was little Ava, who at just 11-months-old joined her mother Emma Ryan and their family to walk in memory of Emma’s mother Maxine Noel, who spent some time at Overgate before passing away earlier this year.

And 75-year-old Laura Eccles, who did the 13 mile walk, was among the oldest.

The Bailiff Bridge Weight Watchers group, led by Kirstie Lawton, walked 13 miles to celebrate collectively losing over 400lbs.

Event Manager Rebecca Gill said ‘The atmosphere on the night was incredible and I want to thank every single one of our walkers for giving their time and energy to make the night the success that it was.

“I would also like to thank our incredible volunteers, our sponsors and all the wonderful people that added the little things that made the night come together to be our best Midnight Walk yet.”

Sponsorship is still coming in but the hospice hopes to raise over £60,000, which will fund the care for adults with life-limiting illnesses throughout Calderdale.
