EMLEY Show chiefs have put out a call for new council members.

The agricultural show, which this year launches on Saturday August 6, is looking for help organising the sheep section and arranging new sponsorship.

Spokeswoman Molly Cundy said the current members had been forced to step down for personal reasons.

The show has 25 sheep classes and anyone volunteering for the role would need to know about sheep.

Volunteers for the sponsorship role would work with the show’s current 30 partners while trying to attract new ones.

Expenses are paid, but both positions are voluntary.

Monthly meetings are held at Emley Working Men’s Club.

Last year a record crowd of more than 15,000 descended on the popular new showground beneath the Emley Mast, Factory Farm. Factory Lane, Moor, thanks to The Hampshire Family.

On top of animal and horticulture events visitors to the 117-year-old show also enjoyed trade stands, handicrafts, music, a dog display and refreshments.
