COULD not rest without making a few tangential points on the devastating exit of England in Euro 2008.

1 I would have had more respect for Steve McClaren had he resigned instead of being sacked as manager in what is a very difficult and demanding job.

2 . An £800m stadium with a retractable roof and condition of the pitch was as bad as Leeds Road Playing fields in wet weather. A disgrace of pitch management.

3. As English football has prostituted itself to TV money and massive worldwide revenues let’s not go on about foreign players in our game being attracted by this money, let’s talk about utilising a percentage of this flood of obscene revenues in developing our game at grass root and academy levels. Don’t let’s harp on about this failure but start in earnest rebuilding and assisting talent in this country.

I am a proud Englishman who wants the FA restructured and astute experienced football people making decisions that really does affect so many lives and feel good factor in this country.
