A DAMAGED Holmfirth wall is set to be repaired thanks to the Express & Chronicle.

The wall and safety rail outside the public toilets by the town’s post office was demolished by a runaway car last year (see picture, left).

Last week a letter to the E&C from ‘two safety conscious OAPs’ said: “It is the 12 month anniversary of when the wall was knocked down. The incident was reported the next working day... unfortunately no one has bothered to do anything. I’m afraid this is a blatant disregard to public health and safety.”

Following the letter the E&C contacted Kirklees Council.

A spokeswoman said: “The car park wall in Holmfirth was damaged in September during a police incident. There has been some delay in getting it repaired, but this will now be done as soon as possible.”
