HOLMFIRTH fairtrade company, Fairandfunky, hosts a feast of family fun for Fairtrade Fortnight.

The not-for-profit group, which delivers educational workshops in the Holme Valley, hosts its annual Fairandfunky Fairtrade Family Funday upstairs at Holmfirth Market Hall, on Saturday, March 9 from 10am-4pm.

The national Fairtrade Fortnight (February 25 to March 10) aims to raise awareness of fairtrade products, where every worker on the production and supply chain has been paid a fair wage.

This year, Fairandfunky’s fun day focuses on food with workshops, run by local, ethical businesses, including cake decorating by Holme Baked, seed planting with the Holme Valley Gardening Network, and a Fairandfunky craft club.

Fairandfunky co-founder Helen Robinson said: “The Fairandfunky Fairtrade Family Funday is to promote fairtrade and of course be a day of fun for all the family. One of the aims of Fairandfunky is to raise awareness of the issues surrounding Fairtrade, whilst giving people access to Fairtrade products and lots of funky, fun and free activities.”

The fair includes Fairtrade refreshments supplied by Holme Valley Oxfam, and stalls from Not Just A Trading Company, the Holme Valley Fairtrade Support Group, and Fairandfunky with students from Holme Junior and Infant School.

Co-founder Sophie Bebb added: “As Fairandfunky, we enjoy the opportunity to get everyone in our community involved in raising awareness and taking their own little steps to change the world.

“We are looking forward to a funky-filled day of fairtrade.”
