HUDDERSFIELD transport engineer Keith Moore is enjoying his retirement in York – 12,500 miles away from York!

For Keith lives in York, Western Australia – a world and a climate away from York in England.

Keith, who lived in Marsh for many years, went into the navy for a seven year stint before returning to a job with Yorkshire Traction.

He went out to Australia in 1962, working first in shipping. His interest in transport of all kinds has found expression in his voluntary work at the York Motor Museum, an enthusiasm that has kept him busy for the last 21 years.

On a recent shopping expedition into Perth, Keith and wife Judy stopped to take the photograph (below) of Australia’s own Berry Brow Road.

“While you have been chilling out in Huddersfield, we’ve been having the hottest summer for 15 years,” said Keith.

“The temperature was 43ºC – a bit different from Huddersfield’s Berry Brow.”

“Could you send us some of your lovely cool weather?”

You wouldn’t like it, Keith and Judy. Trust us on this.
