AT the August meeting of the Brighouse Probus Club members were entertained by John Orrell who presented a varied programme of his films.

The first was entitled The Hamlet of Newsholme about the collection of houses at the end of a dead end road in the countryside near Keighley. During the filming, one of the residents was interviewed and he related some of the history of the hamlet which was mentioned in the Domesday Book.

Next followed A Visit to Brimham Rocks, which showed much of the 50 acre site in Nidderdale. Canal Walk – Through Town and Countryside, which was filmed along the Leeds/Liverpool Canal. Also shown was Up the Pole, about the lowering, renovation and re-erection of an 86-ft may pPole.

The next meeting, on Wednesday, September 12 at Hove Edge Bowling Club at 10.30am, features Gawain Cole and the subject being George and Robert Stephenson.
