A CHILDREN’S centre in Brackenhall has been given a cheque donation thanks to a church community.

Representatives from The Forget Me Not Children’s Centre in Brackenhall met parishioners from Golcar Providence Methodist Church, who handed over more than £550 raised at their recent flower festival.

Church treasurer Christine Heeley told the Examiner: “We like to support local charities and The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice is a new centre so we all felt we wanted to raise money for them.”

Flowers were arranged in symbolic assortments with one even created to celebrate the Olympics.

She added: “We want to thank everyone who supported the flower festival and gave generously for such a worthwhile cause.”

The event was held across the weekend of June 15 and 16.
