MANY retired footballers go into coaching or media work.

But former Town goalkeeper Matt Glennon has swapped his gloves for a set of scissors and a comb.

The 33-year-old stopper – now playing with FC Halifax Town in the Blue Square North league – qualified as a hairdresser three years ago.

Having done some of his early work at the salon in Emley he ended up buying the place and has now renamed it G27 in honour of his Huddersfield Town squad number.

Matt said:“After 18 years of professional football it’s a bit different but I’m really enjoying it.

“I’m still getting my football fix playing for Halifax at the weekend, it’s a good club, but I’m more than happy doing this now.”

Matt said he was leaving the women’s hairdressing to his business partner Laura Macleod, but he was doing all the men’s cuts – including Town legend Andy Booth’s – who is due for a trim in the next few days.

He added: “I’m getting lots of football fans in. It’s been good, it’s not just short back and sides, I’m doing the full repertoire!

“There’s always a few curveballs that come through the door, but thankfully my training is paying off.”
