Colne Valley Silver screen lovers will be in for a treat in September when a pioneering pop up cinema shows a blockbuster for free.

The Dallas Buyers Club will be a great curtain raiser for Marsden’s The Ginger Bread House Presents on September 7, who are back for a new season after taking a summer break.

Starring Matthew McConaughey, the film follows the struggle of real life AIDS patient, Ron Woodruff, against the American authorities as he attempts to smuggle unapproved medicines across the Mexican border to help treat himself and other sufferers.

It will mark the first of dozens of screenings in the town on Saturdays and Sundays, which will feature everything from new family favourites to internationally themed food and film events.

It’s the latest initiative for the club, who also recently launched a public appeal to help them win a £1,000 bid to get more money to bring even more Colne Valley premieres to Marsden.

A spokesperson for the group, said: “We’re so pleased that so many of you are as excited as we are about the upcoming season.

“All the support we get means we can keep paying for licences and screening great films.”

Anyone who would like to go to the free screening, which will start at 7pm, should book a seat in advance.
