GET ready for a feast of fun as the revived Lindley Carnival returns for a sixth time.

This year’s carnival, at Fernlea Playing Fields, on Saturday June 29 (1pm to 4pm), has a musical theme with live tunes from Lindley Band, Lindley Junior School Choir and Lindley Infant School Choir.

The event also promises to be family-orientated with adventure activities, wall climbing, bouncy castles and food and drink stalls.

The event, organised by Lindley Community Group, is the sixth since the carnival was revived in 2008 following a 33-year absence.

The carnival, which is funded by residents, Salendine Nook Sainsbury’s and other local businesses, will be opened by Huddersfield Town Academy manager, Mark Lillis.

Lindley councillor, Cahal Burke, who chairs Lindley Community Group, said: “The carnival has now become a focal point of the summer in Lindley bringing people from all walks of life together to enjoy a traditional carnival day.

“We are hoping to build on the success of previous years’ carnivals and once again, it will prove to be a real family event for the people of Lindley and beyond.

“However, this annual event couldn’t happen if it wasn’t for the support and the hard work and commitment of all those involved in its organisation.”
